The game consists of 48 or 51 wooden blocks that are stacked into a tower. Each player takes turns pulling a block from the tower and placing it on top – whoever causes the tower to collapse loses. It sounds simple, but it requires skill, patience, and a sense of weight and balance.

The blocks are made of wood – depending on the variant, from beech, pine, birch, or alder. Each type of wood has its own grain and color; some variants are even painted in bright colors. The wood is smoothly processed and pleasant to hold. The blocks are light enough to be pulled with one hand but heavy enough to keep the tower stable.
